Chain, Chain, Change...

The part of the mission statement i connect to would have to be the following, "The Library connects our changing community to the evolving world of ideas, information and technology." This statement draws my attention because of how well and thorough hard training and updating the library is battling with understanding and bringing technology into our community and into the library community.

How do i see the library creating a well-informed, well-connected community making it a great place to live, learn, work, and play? My first response is the distinction between departments. In the children's they create an environment that would help young children learn to read, have fun, and use the computers while doing interactive academic games. This as well gives parents who can not afford such expensive luxuries to bring their children and use them for free.

For the second, third, and fourth floors, they create a research environment for academic or workforce patrons. Students in school or in college can use our free resource to finish something for their grade or future. Some workforce patrons that need to bring research in their spare time and allowing them to keep their change in their pocket can use this. Even for patrons that do not follow any of them and just do what i do, research for fun, can use this resource as well. :)

All these departments bring a free resource to those who can not afford such luxuries, or suffer and can not afford due to economic issues. It is a great place for friends to come and gather, for family to interact, to help students, and those in workforce.

With our monthly magazine this brings even more fun and advantages to patrons. Keeping them informed on free events or classes not only increases who comes, but allows them to know we are an open source to them. No charge...except late fees. :)
